Insurance Underwriter - Heavy Towing

Job Description:
A reputable insurance provider specializing in commercial auto and fleet coverages is seeking a knowledgeable Insurance Underwriter to join its dedicated team. The company focuses on offering tailored insurance solutions for clients involved in heavy towing and transportation operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in commercial lines underwriting, with specific experience in towing risks, including hands-on towing quoting knowledge and an understanding of the unique exposures within the towing industry. This role entails evaluating, pricing, and managing underwriting risks to support the company's growth and maintain a high standard of service and compliance.


Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate new and renewal submissions specifically for heavy towing and commercial auto risks.
  • Analyze loss runs, driver records, financial statements and operational exposures to assess risk.
  • Determine appropriate coverage terms, pricing, deductibles and underwriting requirements based on risk analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with agents, brokers and clients to facilitate underwriting decisions and explain coverage options.
  • Maintain adherence to underwriting guidelines and ensure compliance with carrier standards.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and profitability, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Assist in developing specialized insurance programs tailored to the towing and transportation industry.
  • Support business development initiatives by providing technical underwriting expertise and industry insights.


Requirements:

  • 2+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience, with a focus on commercial auto (preferred)
  • Experience in towing, transportation or fleet risks (strongly preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills and decision-making ability
  • Knowledge of ISO forms and commercial auto policy structures
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple submissions efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Industry certifications such as CPCU, AU or similar (preferred)
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred)
