Job Description:
A property and casualty client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO will oversee the organization’s accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, treasury, capital markets activities, inorganic growth, risk management, capital allocation, and financial planning and analysis. The CFO is tasked with developing and implementing a consistent financial operating platform to support the organization’s growth. Additionally, the CFO will spearhead value-creating strategic partnerships and joint ventures. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CFO actively participates in strategic discussions, offering guidance and insights on financial matters. This is a retained search.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a partner to the chief executive officer, president and executive team in achieving financial goals and objectives, as well as offering financial insight and guidance.
  • Participate in all aspects of capital-raising activities, including relationship development, evaluation of the cost of capital and the financial structure, and preparation of proformas and negotiations.
  • Develop strategies that will support the profitable growth goals for the organization, including providing financial insight regarding capital allocation, underwriting results, operational results, reinsurance strategy and investments.
  • Provide insightful financial planning, monthly forecasting and analysis to guide decision-making.
  • Oversee and direct the preparation of all financial reports, including statutory statements and audited financial statements.
  • Collaboratively lead the analysis, procurement and negotiation of reinsurance programs, which appropriately protect the company’s capital and support strategic growth.
  • Guide and mentor staff to support a culture of accountability, fluidity, collaboration and profitability.

Requirements:
  • 15+ years of work experience in finance with a broad background
  • 10+ years of leadership experience within the property and casualty industry
  • Familiarity working with rapidly growing middle-market companies (preferred)
  • Skilled in capital raising, developing business strategies, managing reinsurance programs, as well as overseeing enterprise risk management, financial planning and analysis, and rating agency relationships within a growth-oriented carrier environment
  • Mergers and acquisitions experience (preferred)
  • Proven track record of managing, developing and growing a team of professionals with an ownership mentality
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree in finance, accounting or a related business field (preferred)
