Job Description:

The Jacobson Group partners with life insurance carriers nationwide to place experienced underwriters on interim and contract assignments. We are building our network of Interim Life Underwriters to support clients managing case volume surges, staffing transitions or project-based initiatives. This is an opportunity to apply your underwriting expertise across a range of organizations and product lines on a flexible, contract basis.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate individual life insurance applications, including medical, financial and lifestyle factors, to assess mortality risk.
• Determine whether to accept, modify or decline risk in accordance with company guidelines.
• Review medical records, lab results and attending physician statements to support underwriting decisions.
• Communicate underwriting decisions and rationale clearly to agents, brokers and internal partners.
• Support accelerated, fully underwritten or simplified issue programs depending on the client’s platform.
• Maintain underwriting mortality and persistency standards while meeting production and turnaround targets.
• Quickly learn client-specific underwriting systems, guidelines and case management tools.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of individual life insurance underwriting experience
• Strong knowledge of medical and financial underwriting principles and risk classification
• Experience with accelerated underwriting programs or algorithmic decision engines (preferred)
• Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid contract environment
• Strong analytical skills with sound, consistent judgment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Flexibility to start assignments on short notice and adapt to different client systems and processes
• Accelerated underwriting experience is a huge plus
