Master Underwriter

Job Description:
Our client, a workers' compensation insurer, is looking for a Master Underwriter to join their team in central Illinois. The Master Underwriter will assess and evaluate risks, as well as manage agency relationships. This position is work-from-home with some required visits to agencies within assigned territory. A company vehicle will be provided.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for risk selection and rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability in accordance with divisional objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers and coworkers in order to attract and retain profitable business.
  • Administer, apply and update underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
  • Provide technical advice to lower-level positions and other functional areas.
  • Make decisions regarding talent selection, development and performance management for direct reports, as needed.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 10+ years of recent and relevant experience
  • AU, CPCU, CIC, INS, or ARM designation (preferred)
