Reinsurance Accountant


Job Description:
A property and casualty insurance subsidiary is looking for a Reinsurance Accountant to manage and maintain account ledgers. The Reinsurance Accountant will be responsible for receiving reports submitted by managing general agents (MGAs), entering the data into ledgers, and generating reinsurance statements. This position fully work-from-home.

Responsibilities:

  • Review premium and loss bordereaux received from program partners.
  • Compare program partner submissions with data warehouse entries.
  • Prepare direct and ceded ledger entries.
  • Review loss escrow balances and request replenishments, as need.
  • Reconcile insurance balances for both direct and ceded activity.
  • Prepare reinsurance statements and follow up with brokers.
  • Provide Schedule F information.
  • Research disputed account balances and work closely with customers and internal team to resolve unreconciled matters.
  • Track premiums receivable by the program manager.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Support month-end closing processes.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or economics
  • 5+ years of reinsurance or insurance experience
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry; insurance accounting experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the ledger solution in SAP (preferred)
