Reinsurance Operations Analyst

Job Description:
This role is responsible for collecting, recording, tracking and analyzing reinsurance data related to the company's ceded portfolio. The role will assist in coordinating and managing day-to-day services for internal and external partners by maintaining and deploying reinsurance information. This data is integrated into the company's operational, financial and counterparty risk processes to ensure that contractual reinsurance obligations are being fulfilled accurately and timely.

Responsibilities:

  • Process high volumes of reinsurance data and ensure accurate booking into the back-end database. Assist with routine data table reviews.
  • Support internal and external clients by following up and securing reinsurance agreement information, ensuring timely and accurate system entries of client activity.
  • Maintain and track quarterly and annual collateral top-up calls.
  • Assist with reviewing collateral calculations and coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure the required collateral is received when due.
  • Facilitate the cash call process and calculate ceded amounts to be invoiced.
  • Generate reinsurance summary documents as required by state insurance regulators, summarizing contractual terms of new and renewal reinsurance placements.
  • Collaborate with ceded reinsurance, underwriting, finance and other internal teams to produce key exhibits detailing new and renewing reinsurance placements.
  • Support the finance department in completing regulatory requirements such as Schedule F and quarterly reporting. Monitor related rating updates throughout the year.
  • Participate in team meetings, sharing ideas, knowledge and solutions. 
  • Contribute to the team's success and outcomes.
  • Drive long-term projects to completion and discuss the outcomes.
  • Maintain reference tables, file libraries and SharePoint sites as appropriate.
  • Track and monitor open action items and program requests.
  • Maintain compliance with any applicable UK or International statutory or regulatory obligations, including:
    • Prudent business management.
    • Placing due regard on the interests of customers.
    • Observing sanctions and financial crime rules.
    • Meeting regulatory requirements and local licensing restrictions.
    • Promoting and following the company's whistleblowing procedures.
    • Following the company's Consumer Duty principles to deliver good outcomes for retail customers.

Requirements:
  • Experience working in a reinsurance company, intermediary or ceded re department at a carrier
  • General knowledge of insurance products
  • General knowledge of regulations and compliance guidelines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, Vizio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to collect, track and analyze large amounts of data
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of relevant reinsurance experience
  • Experience dealing with audit, compliance, claims, finance and accounting matters
  • VBA, SQL or other coding experience a plus
