Job Description:
A network of independent financial advisors, many with roots in the life insurance industry, is seeking an experienced, results-oriented professional to join its leadership team as a Vice President of Firm Development to expand its market presence on the West Coast. This individual will be critical in recruiting and managing a network of independent life insurance and wealth advisory firms. The Vice President will implement the organization’s proven business model to drive revenue growth and deliver tailored resources to each firm. This entrepreneurial role offers flexibility in geographic location, with a preference for the southern California area, and an opportunity to build a “business within a business” while working alongside a team of highly successful peers. This is a retained search.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Recruitment and Onboarding: Identify, evaluate, and recruit top-tier independent life insurance and wealth advisory firms into the organization’s network. Guide new firms through a seamless onboarding process, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and business objectives.
  • Customized Growth Planning: Develop and execute tailored revenue growth strategies for each firm, leveraging data-driven insights and market trends. Provide ongoing consultation and resources to help firms maximize their potential and achieve sustained profitability.
  • Collaborative Resource Optimization: Partner with carriers, alliances, and internal teams to deliver specialized solutions and product expertise. Facilitate knowledge-sharing and resource allocation to address unique firm needs and market opportunities.
  • Relationship Management and Service Excellence: Build and nurture long-term, trust-based relationships with firms. Act as a strategic advisor and advocate, ensuring that each firm receives exceptional support and service to thrive in a competitive landscape.
  • Leadership in Recruiting and Sales Initiatives: Actively participate in and lead organization-wide recruiting and sales campaigns. Collaborate with peers to design innovative approaches that drive company results and strengthen the organization’s position in the market.
  • Performance Monitoring and Accountability: Establish and track performance metrics for each firm within the portfolio. Regularly assess progress against growth objectives, providing actionable feedback and implementing corrective measures when necessary.
  • Market Insights and Strategic Input: Stay informed on industry developments, market conditions, and competitor activities. Share insights with the broader team to inform strategy, enhance value propositions, and identify emerging opportunities.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the life insurance industry, with demonstrated success in business development and firm recruitment; familiarity with producer groups, premium finance, and the nuances of the high-net-worth market are key
  • Proven expertise working directly with high-net-worth producers, with a deep understanding of high-end insurance products such as indexed universal life (IUL), variable universal life (VUL), and advanced estate planning strategies
  • Demonstrated success in a sales leadership role, with a track record of driving revenue growth, managing complex client relationships, and exceeding performance goals
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; professional designations/certifications such as CFP, CIC, etc. helpful but not required
