Job Description:
Our client is one of the largest privately held cooperatives in the United States, with more than 1,000 members across multiple brands. The majority of the members are independently owned carpet and floor covering stores. The client is seeking a hands-on Vice President of Insurance to lead an in-house agency providing insurance services and products to members. Acting as a producer, risk manager, and claims consultant, this position is responsible for all operations of a commercial insurance agency. This fast-paced environment provides services including coverage review and recommendations, claims analyses and advocacy, audit calculation and negotiation, and placement of distressed risks. The Vice President will oversee a team of three account managers to serve the insurance and risk management needs of members. This is a hybrid role with expectations to be in office Tuesday through Thursday in their Earth City, Mo., office.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a risk management advocate for members.
- Review customer agreements, contractor agreements, leases and other contracts to assure appropriate risk acceptance or risk transfer, as well as compliance with insurance policy language.
- Manage and direct staff so high-quality service standards are met and are consistent with the company's “Members First” philosophy.
- Prioritize activities, processes and workflow to assure deadlines are met and the agency’s image is maintained.
- Foster relationships with staff members to work together to achieve agency goals.
- Train staff to assure optimal use of systems, compliance with agency service guidelines, policies, and practices, and adherence to laws and to carrier rules.
- Seek out and establish relationships with members requesting proposals and provide analyses of their current programs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management or an insurance-related field
- 10+ years of claims, risk management and/or commercial underwriting experience
- 10+ years of agency management experience
- Significant commercial lines expertise
- Experience with agency software management systems, as well as internal workflows and procedures in an independent agency
- Hold current property and casualty licenses
- Proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
