Vice President of Insurance Operations

Job Description:
An organization offering personal accident, trip and travel, and professional liability insurance is seeking a Vice President of Insurance Operations. The Vice President of Insurance Operations will be responsible for safeguarding the company’s revenue stream through exceptional service to members, geographic expansion, new member acquisition programs and technology modernization initiatives. The successful leader will partner with fellow senior executives to develop and execute the company’s business strategy by sharing insurance industry expertise, advice and guidance. This position is at the company’s world headquarters in Durham, North Carolina. Relocation assistance will be provided for candidates who live outside of the area. This is a retained search.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and vision for global insurance operations, including call center, claims, information technology and marketing.
- Develop strategic goals, including geographic expansion, new member acquisition, technology modernization, policy administration, claims processing and data reconciliation.
- Guide, motivate and mentor direct and indirect reports in insurance operations to encourage high performance and a culture of collaboration.
- Uphold compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, governance procedures, best practices, and all items relating to insurance operations.
- Oversee policy processing systems, underwriting, and the implementation of state, federal and foreign regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience working in commercial property and casualty insurance with a focus in accident and health, trip and travel, and professional liability
- Proficiency with captive insurance companies and risk retention groups
- Expertise in partnering with reinsurers, fronting companies and third-party management firms
- Skilled in strategic planning, negotiation, project management and underwriting
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
- Insurance industry certifications (preferred)
