Job Description:
We are looking for a Vice President of Transportation to build the transportation practice of the company.  The successful candidate will bring a proven background of both underwriting transportation programs and have the ability to lead the creation of a new program. The integration of technology and data into the underwriting process is a key differentiator of the company. The company has partnered with a number of data and sensor providers in the transportation sector, which will be incorporated into the final tech stack. The candidate should be entrepreneurial, embrace new trends in the industry and be able to collaborate with other team members on the developing this division. This is a senior position reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. 

Responsibilities:

• Partner with management to develop a transportation-focused MGA program.
• Develop underwriting guidelines and partner with internal actuarial support to refine risk models.
• Lead the development of a transportation technology platform that will create a seamless customer experience as well as improve internal efficiencies.
• Assist in the development of an RPG program with one of the largest freight brokerage businesses in the U.S.
• Manage multiple MGA programs across many lines of business related to commercial auto.
• Target additional wholesale partnerships with insurance carriers in the transportation sector.
• Manage data vendors to support the underwriting function and achieve best-in-class cost structure.
• Write divisional Standard Operating Procedures to ensure efficient and accurate workflows.

• 7+ years of experience as a high-performing underwriter with some experience leading a division a plus. Transportation underwriting focus is required
