Interim CFO (Fractional)

Job Description:
Our client is seeking an interim CFO for a fractional, fully remote consulting engagement estimated at 40–60 hours per month for 4+ months. This role will provide strategic financial leadership during a transition period while a permanent CFO search is conducted. The interim CFO will oversee accounting continuity; ensure timely, statutory reporting; and help prepare for AM Best renewal discussions in late April, while also supporting strategic initiatives such as evaluating banking partners, including those supportive of premium finance loans.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of the accounting function to ensure continuity of operations during the interim period.
  • Review and approve monthly financial statements and reporting including statutory reporting obligations.
  • Maintain clean and consistent month-end close processes to ensure all critical deadlines are met.
  • Support preparation for AM Best renewal discussions.
  • Serve as a stabilizing financial leadership presence during the transition.
  • Evaluate banking partners for operational needs, including support for premium finance loans.
  • Identify process improvements and introduce structure and rigor by applying best practices from larger insurance organizations.


Requirements:

  • Strong insurance finance background with statutory accounting and regulatory compliance experience
  • Prior experience in a larger, structured insurance environment (preferred)
  • Availability to start quickly and commit to approximately 40–60 hours per month
  • Strong leadership and oversight skills during transition periods
  • Familiarity with private placement life insurance (preferred)
  • CPA or CMA designation (preferred)


Pay Range:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $100-$145 per hour based on experience.
