Job Description:
A leading organization is seeking a dedicated Workers' Compensation Underwriting Assistant to support classification review processes within the workers' comp and multi-state contexts. This role involves ensuring accurate class codes, conducting NCCI research and reviewing documentation related to excluded entities. The position is remote, requiring a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of workers' compensation classifications and liability laws across various states. The role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to ongoing system evolutions and classification accuracy, supporting team efforts in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Review classification codes to ensure proper categorization aligned with industry standards.
• Conduct NCCI research to verify and support classification decisions.
• Review documentation concerning excluded entities to ensure compliance with workers' compensation laws.
• Manage potential issues arising from classification system changes, including misclassifications and errors from bureaus.
• Address criticisms and resolve classification-related challenges promptly and accurately.
• Assist in resolving system discrepancies and ensure the accuracy of data within workers’ compensation processes.
• Collaborate with team members to identify trends and improve classification review procedures.
• Maintain detailed records of classifications, research findings and resolution steps.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience as an underwriting assistant in workers’ compensation
• Deep knowledge of NCCI Classification taxonomy
• Strong understanding of workers' compensation basis of premium and liability laws across multiple states, including California, Texas and New York
• Broad workers' compensation experience with exposure to diverse classifications
• Ability to manage issues related to system changes or classification evolution
• Familiarity with bureau criticisms and errors, along with resolution steps
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, repetitive task environment with high accuracy
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Pay Range:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $28-32 per hour. We understand salary is an important factor in a job search, and we encourage you to apply even if you feel that your desired compensation may fall outside of the listed range. The final pay for this position is determined based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and certifications, education and training, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity.
