Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to partner closely with the Director of Accounting in driving efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement across financial planning, processing and reporting functions. This role offers a blend of technical accounting, financial analysis, and project-based work, requiring a high level of ownership, initiative, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is comfortable making independent decisions, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to strategic initiatives that impact the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares financial statements, manages audit requirements, account reconciliation and policy accounting

• Researches applicable regulations for special situations and compliance

• Manages the accounting and reporting for the organization’s charitable foundation

• Reviews reporting and financial statements for completeness and accuracy

• Collaborates on regulatory and tax reporting

Requirements:

• Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance

• 5+ years of increasingly responsible experience (financial services/insurance a plus)

• Strong Statutory accounting experience

• CPA or CPA candidate (preferred)

• Reinsurance experience (preferred)

• Proficient with financial statements and a demonstrated understanding of key financial concepts

• Excellent oral and written communication skills with high level of professionalism

• Self-starter with excellent teamwork skills and an innate sense of urgency

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn proprietary software

Pay Range:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00 per hour, based on experience. We understand salary is an important factor in a job search, and we encourage you to apply even if you feel that your desired compensation may fall outside of the listed range. The final pay for this position is determined based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and certifications, education and training, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity.
