Job Description:
A healthcare organization is seeking a highly qualified Behavioral Health Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and strategic guidance in a remote environment. This role partners with senior leadership to develop and implement integrated behavioral healthcare management practices while supporting clinical reviews, utilization strategies and practice pattern improvements across multiple states.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Chief Medical Officers, Medical Directors and Clinical Staff to develop and implement behavioral healthcare management practices.
• Serve as a lead consultant to senior leadership including the Vice President of Medical Management on behavioral health initiatives.
• Support clinical case reviews, focused studies and medical necessity determinations.
• Conduct peer-to-peer reviews and physician-to-physician consultations to enhance care delivery and practice patterns.
• Provide clinical supervision and guidance to medical management and behavioral health teams.
• Partner with utilization management, quality management, case management and disease management teams on behavioral health strategies.
• Participate in and/or chair committees and projects supporting the overall medical management program.

Requirements:

• Current unrestricted MD license in a U.S. state or territory
• Board certification in psychiatry
• U.S. citizenship
• Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Defense background clearance
• 5+ years of clinical practice experience
• 5+ years of medical management experience within a managed care environment
• Experience with utilization management, quality management, case management and disease management
• Behavioral health leadership experience
• Proficiency in utilization review and medical necessity determination
• Experience conducting clinical case reviews and peer-to-peer consultations
• Managed care strategy experience
• Subject to credentialing to verify licensure, board certification and professional standing
• Must reside in an approved state

Pay Range:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $143.00 per hour.

The final pay for this position is determined based on several factors including but not limited to relevant experience, skills and certifications, education and training, geographic location, market conditions and internal equity.
