Job Description:
This role involves managing a portfolio of high-exposure, litigated excess and surplus general liability commercial claims on a temporary basis. The assigned work includes handling existing case files, with a focus on maintaining disciplined documentation, conducting coverage analyses, drafting position letters and evaluating liability and damages. The position requires working collaboratively with plaintiff, defense, and coverage counsel to assess exposure, set reserves and negotiate settlements. This is a remote position that supports an immediate need due to vacancy.

Responsibilities:

• Independently manage a portfolio of litigated excess and surplus general liability claims, maintaining detailed file documentation.
• Conduct thorough coverage analyses and draft coverage and liability position letters.
• Evaluate liability, damages and venue risk to determine appropriate reserves.
• Collaborate effectively with plaintiff, defense and coverage counsel to support claim resolution.
• Prepare detailed reports on claim status for upper management.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys to reach fair resolutions.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience handling excess and surplus commercial general liability claims, including high-exposure and litigated cases
• Experience with excess and surplus lines, and multi-jurisdictional claims
• Demonstrated expertise in coverage analysis and litigation management
• Proven ability to manage complex claims independently
• Strong analytical, negotiation and decision-making skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting
• Active license in the state of residence or DHS plus multiple adjuster licenses (the more licenses, the better)
• Claims system experience

Pay Range:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00 per hour. The final pay for this position is determined based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and certifications, education and training, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity.
