Job Description:
A healthcare organization is seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Analyst expert to support critical financial and operational projects remotely. This role is vital in addressing complex actuarial analyses related to healthcare claims, budget forecasting and financial risk assessments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate monthly reconciliations, supporting claim project analyses, and developing ad-hoc data analyses to aid strategic decision-making. They will also assist in rebuilding key reporting processes, maintaining existing arrangements and preparing for the adoption of new actuarial tools. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-stakes projects within a dynamic environment, with an anticipated engagement period extending until June 25, 2027.

Responsibilities:

• Update and review monthly reconciliations for shared savings and capitation arrangements at the beginning of each month, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Support claim project analysis by conducting holistic reviews, estimating impact dollars for monthly accruals and validating platform results.

• Assist in rebuilding and monitoring the development of new shared savings and capitation reports, providing ongoing updates and oversight.

• Gather and aggregate data through ad-hoc extractions, reconstruct previous analyses, and perform specialized data analyses as needed.

• Develop budget projections including membership mix analysis, trend studies, program and population change assessments.

• Conduct ORSA analysis, Medicaid rate evaluations and respond to various ad-hoc requests from leadership.

• Prepare for integration of new tools such as Optum’s Compricer and UW Intelligence, supporting their implementation and data preparation.

• Manage multiple analysis projects simultaneously, adhering to time-sensitive deadlines and producing detailed, leadership-ready summaries.

• Utilize advanced Excel, SQL, SAS and learnable tools such as TM1 IBM Planning Analytics and Business Objects to deliver insights.

• Communicate progress clearly, escalate obstacles promptly and work flexibly within a remote work environment.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of actuarial analysis experience in healthcare insurance

• Strong background in claims analysis, claims reimbursement, forecasting and projections, and detailed data extraction

• Proven ability to quantify impacts directly and estimate impacts indirectly using datasets

• Expertise in projecting claims expense, stress testing financial risks and analyzing trend data

• Experience working with claims, fee schedules, program and service changes

• Proficiency in Excel, SQL (primarily Netezza and secondary Oracle) and SAS

• Bonus/learnable skills include TM1 IBM Planning Analytics and Business Objects

• Self-motivated, excellent communicator, organized and able to handle multiple concurrent tasks efficiently

• Availability to work standard hours with flexibility after initial ramp-up

Pay Range:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $80.00 - $90.00 per hour. The final pay for this position is determined based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and certifications, education and training, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity.
